Kerry Harris Child Minding

Hello, my name is Kerry and I am an Ofsted registered childminder providing home based childcare in Copmanthorpe, York. I seek to provide a supportive, yet stimulating environment for your child, so that they may play, grow and develop with confidence in a happy family environment.

I am married with three daughters aged 12, 10 and 8 years plus a friendly fluffy cat called ‘Smudge’ and a sleepy, tame hamster called Cocoa Belle which all the children love! We live in a child friendly home, with a dedicated playroom and lots of outdoor equipment in a fully enclosed garden.

We are close to the local school, playgroup, nurseries and to the local park and shops. Copmanthorpe is also ideally located with easy access to the A64 if you are commuting e.g. from York to Leeds

Care, Learning and Play

Children learn when they are in a safe and caring environment where they are stimulated through play. Babies and young children develop best when they are in a caring relationship with an adult. A baby will learn to walk faster when they have a safe pair of arms to walk towards and learn to talk, when they have an adult listening and responding to them.

I will strive to provide your child with an environment that will be caring, fun and stimulating. I will implement ideas from the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage.

I will provide activities that support the main learning areas:

Prime Areas:

  1. Personnal, Social and Emotional Development

  2. Physical Development

  3. Communication and Language

  4. Specific Areas:

  5. Literacy

  6. Mathematics

  7. Understanding the World

  8. Expressive Arts and Design

These activities will include:

  1. Dressing up clothes

  2. Books and DVDs

  3. Small world toys

  4. Construction toys (lego, duplo etc)

  5. Pretend play (toy kitchen etc)

  6. Water play

  7. Arts and Crafts

  8. Outings

  9. Cooking

  10. Gardening

  11. Outdoor play and equipment
